I had never been able to get into St James’ Church, Mere Green, until today. It’s a lovely 200 year old community church. This organ was installed in 1853 but the plaques beneath it represent the years of WW1. I’ve searched the web but can’t find out anything about them, but our best guess is that they represent various military divisions, eg engineers, artillery, etc. Happy to be corrected.
What a beautiful organ and a mystery to solve with the plaques.
