Paimpont Abbey was founded in 645AD by St. Judicaël the King of Domnonee: the present building as you see it in this shot was begun in 1199AD.
We've had rain again all day but the sun came out for a few minutes at the end of the afternoon, giving me just enough time to capture this view of the Abbey from the lakeside, as a complete contrast from the night shot that I posted two days ago.
@louuncouth Hi Lou - yes, still in use but it's no longer an active monastery. The wing on the left is the Town Hall; the wing on the right is a hostel for handicapped people and between them is the Abbatiale (Abbey Church) which today is the Parish Church of Paimpont. Google it - you'll find lots to read.
