@gijo1610 Hi Joanne - here's a first (maybe also the last!) attempt at capturing "the unnatural"... Paimpont Abbey by night, reflected in a lake that doesn't exist. This is only my second ever time using Photoshop CC so it took me a long time to do, but I learned a lot.
One thing I learned is that this is not the ideal image for this type of exercise as there is too much foreground in front of the Abbey that I couldn't remove otherwise there would have been trees floating in the air! If there's a next time, I will choose an image where I can crop the foreground completely.
I've got some other ideas if I can find the time but I've already thoroughly enjoyed this challenge - thank you.
@vignouse fab interpretation! I thought when you said "there is no lake outside the abbey" that there had been lots of rain and a field had become flooded! Very realistic!
@joansmor You sound like my mother, Joan! She always said to me when I was young: "Well, aren't you the clever one - what you know would fill a book... what you don't know fills the library."! I find PS very hard work and not at all intuitive... I may not last the course.
Wow, I'm so impressed with your work here as you have me completely fooled, but the design behind it is wonderful. I won't even ask HOW although it would have been fun to watch how. I wish I had more time for learning some of these things. I have PSE 10, but I never use it as I'm just working to fast and LR5 is pretty good for fast! Awesome job. Fav from me.
@darylo Thanks Daryl - up to now I've alos used LR5 for everything and, like you, I can 'do' a photo in a couple of minutes - a couple of hours was not enough for this shot but it was only my second time using PS; it's the full CC version.
@vignouse I use Photoshop Elements so not as complicated as Photoshop but what I did was subscribe to their User's magazine and what I learned doing those techniques and then add in what I have learned on my scrapbooking site and this becomes child play. But on my own I would be at a stand still. Photoshop has a user's magazine sign up for it and open up the treasures at your finger tip - take from the library and add to your book.
@joansmor Child's play? It would have to be a pretty precocious child I think - there were 16 separate steps just to get the ripples and the colouration in the 'water' the way I wanted them! Thanks for the heads-up on the Photoshop Users magazine - I'll look into that
