Yes, it's Paimpont Abbey again! Being an active member of the Abbey community and a photographer, people tend to turn to me if a photograph is needed for publicity purposes, so I need to always have new images available. This means that whenever I'm near the Abbey and I have a camera with me, I take a photo for stock. I've taken a lot of photos of the Abbey from all sorts of viewpoints but I've never seen a sky quite like this. Five minutes after I took the photo the sky was uniformly grey and it was bucketing down with rain, so I'm pleased I caught this moment.
@maggiemae That streak is lighting up the gable at the east end of the building and the window in the gable is the stained glass window above the altar which would have looked wonderful with that ray of light streaming through, although I didn't have the time to go and look.
Just stunning!! Perfect horizon line, reflections, details and clarity!! The sky looks like it just split there for a minute, making a last stand for the sunlight before the rain!! It's quite beautiful!! How lucky you live near this place!! FAV!
Great shot Richard. I like how the light and its reflection point to your subject, A beautiful Abbey. Personally I think the white section of the sky is a little overexposed, it draws ones eyes away from the Abbey.
I never get tired of the Abbey. I mentioned to Kate a while back that it is good to have one or two "go to" places and when you can't come up with something often seeing these places motivates you. And I think when you keep shooting at the same place you can see your progress. I have always wanted to go to Great Britain but never the rest of Europe. Now I want to see Brittany and I want to see Spain. That is what forming the friendships on here does it widens your vision in so many ways. Maybe we can make the world a smaller community.
It's so beautiful Richard. I love how the light slas in the sky lights up the water, the reflections are superb and I love the feeling of the wind stirring up the surface just a little!.
