One of my favourite views...

I quite often have to go out to meetings in the evenings and it's not unusual for them to run over time. Sometimes, like tonight, the weather is miserable too. At the time I'm due home Mrs S switches on the outside light which I can see from several hundred metres away as the road emerges from the forest. The closer I get to home, the brighter the light becomes, like a little beacon leading me home. Finally I turn into our lane and the terrace leading to the front door is lit with golden welcoming light: Mrs S's car parked outside confirms that she is home and waiting for me. Yes, this is one of my most favourite views...

Nice on black if you have the time.

I've tagged this ntmc: this image taken with the little Sony RX100M3, handheld at 1/4 sec and ISO 3200.
great lighting of a night shot

Beautiful - and what a nice story!!

It is often the little things life like this that can really make your day.
Great shot, and a fantastic story behind it too.

This is lovely as is but as you said it is even nicer against black. You captured the miserable weather conditions and also the welcoming light guiding you home. fav

And is that Mitzi waiting for you too. I think I prefer the bw. I like this too and I can see in the color version how really wet it is.

beautiful light - I love your words - as Kane said - it is the little things that usually make my day

really beautiful Richard, especially on black. what lovely thoughts too of home, safety and loved ones

The shot is warming, as is your story.

@joansmor The B&W one is on restricted access so most people won't see it and, yes, I prefer that one too as a photograph, but the warmth of this colour one matches the warm glow I feel inside as I arrive home. It was actually raining heavens hard when I took this, but it's not apparent.

Wonderful shot and story to go with it.

@francoise @joansmor No Françoise, Mitzi was inside in the warm - there is a white plant-pot by the front-door and I guess Joan thought that was Mitzi. Time to book an appointment with your occulist Joan? ;-)

Maybe that's my problem with focus.
January 15th, 2015
@vignouse no, what I was looking at was the dark shape at the front end of the brick pathway, the shape with the shadow (I imagined I was seeing ears)

@francoise @joansmor Ah, OK - I see the confusion: in fact it's a stone pig garden ornament... see here http://365project.org/vignouse/365/2014-05-14

There's no place like home, and home is all the more a welcoming place when the love of your life is there waiting for you.
