I love your expression and your processing is terrific. Nice low key (is that what you would call it with the soft and dark tones of gray and black?). Anyway, well done in composition and expression!
The mark of a great photographer - to come up with a shot with super light, detail, emotion - and make it look totally unplanned - at the last minute. Love it!
Great self portrait. I've read that you should try to get pictures of your kids with all kinds of expressions, I think that applies to ourselves as well. :) I need to remember this as my passion for daily photo taking is also being challenged by time constraints! PS I love the tension you've created by not placing the eyes in the top third. Brilliant! Also, did you process this in silver efex?
Many (myself included) can so easily identify with this shot... a really lovely self portrait. The lighting, expression and details are excellent. Better yet, it depicts the personal distress for this situation. Total empathetic fav. :)
That caption made me laugh hard, especially since it is after 11 pm and I just got done taking pictures of a flower arrangement in the kitchen. I really like the shot though, the expression is fantasitc!
Self portraits can be some of the most difficult to take and this is so wonderful! Not only do you have a great face - your expression, the lighting and texture make this a compelling image. I just had a great time paging back through your albums. Your work is inspiring. I am relatively new here and enjoyed reading your background/history with 365. I look forward to following your work.
@judithaltman Hello Judith - thank you for your thoughtful comments. For a last minute, unplanned shot this worked out better than I had any right to expect. It was over exposed because I forgot to compensate for the black background... but that's the sort of mistake that is easy to make when you work in a hurry! I enjoyed looking through your album - I think it's really neat how you are combining your love of photography with your obvious love of Brussels... I look forward to seeing more.
@nanderson Thank you Nancy - it's usually between 2 and 3am when I get to bed... it's only after Mrs S and the four-legged members of the household have retired that I can catch up with things, including 365.
Wonderful self portrait, Richard. There's a huge sense of despair in the image so I'm glad that the cause of it was only your photo for the day. Congrats onTT.
