This is in the eastern part of Paimpont Forest where many trees were damaged by the high winds of last autumn and also had their root systems destabilised by the high water table. Some fell as a consequence and the others have been felled under controlled conditions to avoid damage to surrounding healthy trees. I understand the necessity of all this but I still feel sad when I see a mature tree lying broken on the forest floor instead of standing proudly with its peers.
@kporte@iwatts Thanks guys and my processing obviously worked Keith as I was aiming for a ghostly feel for this dead tree... I should probably get out more!
It's sad indeed Richard,but it had a long life ( many rings) . What angers me is to see a young tree broken in a senseless act of vandalism. I love your shot by the way
@guernseysue Hi Sue - yes I'm still willing to mentor - post an e-mail address on here where I can contact you off-line and we'll take it from there. I'll delete your comment with the address as soon as I've replied.
I found your name on the discussion about mentors. Are you still willing to mentor and if so, do you have space for someone?
Trees
By Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
