Last sunflower seed! by vignouse

Last sunflower seed!

The Great Tits seem to be particularly fond of sunflower seeds and they will sort through a bowl of mixed grains until they find what they are looking for, scattering the rest of the seeds to the ground in the process. It all seems to be part of nature's plan though because the chaffinches and the sparrows gather underneath waiting for their meal to fall from heaven.

I especially liked this Tit as he looked so scruffy compared to his impeccably groomed peers - it made him look rather vulnerable so I was pleased he found his favourite food.
Rough winter perhaps, for this colorful little guy. Lovely bird shot!

I must put some sunflower seeds out but we do not have any blue tits, just Toms and yellow breasted but these are both tiny birds.

Great capture. We always get the seeds without the shells, to try and cut down on the mess...

I know people who put out only sunflower seeds and think that is sad because they miss some birds. Great capture. Some of the birds do look scruffy.
