This is Mrs S arriving home today after a few days spent in the UK.
Technically, this photograph is a disaster: the little Sony RX100 is usually set to matrix metering and produces excellent results, but I failed to allow for the fact that this scene is heavily back-lit. The daylight coming in through the windows of the Customs' Hall was several magnitudes brighter than the fluorescent lighting in the Arrivals Hall, with the result that the image was about 4 stops underexposed. I've recovered as much detail as I could but I can't do anything about the high noise level and consequent loss of detail caused by the underexposure and the elevated ISO.
Despite the poor technical quality though, it's the image that pleases me the most out of the hundred or so that I took today... so it's my shot of the day, technical warts and all. Welcome home Mrs S, we missed you.
I hate all things to do with flying, Richard, but I like this shot. Nice to see that she is glad to see you! I would like to see those people applauding!
@annied The majority of passengers had checked baggage and had to wait in the Custom's Hall for its arrival - Mrs S was travelling light so was able to exit before the crowd.
If it lacks technical merit, it changes nought for me. Delighted to see you...and Fang. Hadn't even noticed the others awaiting their people.
Congrats on PP, even though you were not happy with the quality Richard!
