NF-SOOC-2015 - Day 3: Out of the Damp Earth...

This is my third image for NF-SOOC-2015. What's that all about? Well it's a repeat of a challenge I set myself for September 2014 - and many of you joined me - to shoot only with a 50mm (or equivalent) lens in September and to post all images as they came out of the camera without any other processing or cropping.

I found it enormously fulfilling last year and I learned so much that I have decided to repeat the exercise for September 2015. You can read about it here - http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26200/back-to-basics-nf-sooc-2015

How about joining me?

PS: Not all my images will be toadstools ;-)

PPS: This views best on black if you have the time.
Beautiful toadstool! Ours are all so plain. I like the shape and texture of the cap.

Super capture. I might join you once this week is over. I remember when you did this challenge last year and wished I had joined in then, I rely much to heavily on post pro, so it will be good for me.

Excellent again...is it edible?
September 4th, 2015
Beautiful shot!
September 4th, 2015
@graemestevens it's edible but it has a slimy and unpleasant taste, I'm told.
September 4th, 2015
@vignouse Probably not worth it then...I'll go elsewhere and be hungry
September 4th, 2015
Great shot and dof! What a neat texture on that pretty toadstool.
September 4th, 2015
Beautiful photo, Richard! Unequivocal fav.

all's that's missing is a little elf.
September 4th, 2015
Amazing how the focus is the same as previous but this is so intimate while other waa so expansive. Thank you

Lovely for the challenge. Beautifully framed. I saw one, somewhat like it, a few days ago. I had never seen textures on a mushroom like this, so nicely spotted. You are making the challenge look very inviting, so I will try to join it for a bit. :)

Great textures, light, composition...looks like a story book picture :)

Lovely light and dof
September 4th, 2015
Nice capture - great texture on the fungus head.
September 4th, 2015
Fabulous detail of the raised up markings on this toadstool....how pretty it is!
September 4th, 2015
Love how basically the only thing in focus is the cap and a few odd pieces of grass!
September 4th, 2015
this is superb....I will try and do a few - I have already got things happening this month for my posts but I am sure I can get my 50mm out for some of it
September 5th, 2015
You are right about the black, but will all your nifty fifty be taken laying on the ground? Mine won't be.
September 5th, 2015
@trinda See my other comment to you today... with a folding rear screen you don't have to lay on the ground. But you're right, I need to mix things up a bit... you'll have to wait and see what today's NF-SOOC offering is going to be - at the moment, I have no idea!

Wonderful detail, it looks almost metallic in structure. I think maybe I should challenge myself to taking images with just a 50mm lens now and then. It would save me carrying a very heavy camera bag, Last week I did a 10 mile walk with a camera bag, (backpack) that weighed over a stone.
September 5th, 2015
@gamelee The weight soon adds up, especially with wide aperture zooms - I've often thought about getting an 18-300 zoom for walking and motorbike outings but you do compromise on quality somewhat.
