This is what you see when you leave St. Malo on one of the cross channel ferry crossings. Here you see the breakwater which protects the inner harbour and, in the background, the historic walled city of St. Malo, known as St. Malo Intra Muros. This was taken this morning as I left France to visit family in England for a few days.
You have got it from a different perspective than I see it which is nice; we visit from Dinard but take a passenger boat. It is a magnificent walled town. My first visit was when I was crew in a tall ship crewed with folk with disabilities and support workers. I shall never forget being moored outside the walls and a quartet of interesting local folk musicians played on the quay by us in the evening. Magical.
love the way the breakwater divides the world here (and the photo-takers!). happy visits. (p.s. the wedding was a young fellow who works with Joe, but I had never met him or his intended though I had heard tales about him)
I understand we will have pictures of the English morning .... cool ... beautiful view of St. Malo with this sun caressing the walls . Very beautiful photo!
Wonderful capture! Love the protected inner harbor with the boats, and the walled city that hides whatever is behind it from the rest of the world! The red and white lighthouse provides a wonderful punctuation mark at the end of the breakwater. FAV!
