Pond Wars! by vignouse

Pond Wars!

This is a follow-on from yesterday's shot of Les Forges - what you are looking at is what should be L'Etang des Forges - Les Forges Lake. Unfortunately the lake is leaking and there is a difference of opinion between the proprietor and the commune as to who is responsible for the repair. The owner of the château you see in the distance is less than enamoured with the change of view forced upon him.

beautiful setting. I like the building in the distance and the curvy rivulet.

I imagine the homeowner fears his home value has gone down along with the leaky lake!

Beautiful

I am sure but what a lovely view for us!

Bummer but nice clouds and curvy leading line

That is definitely not a view an owner of a hotel/chateau wants visitors to look out their windows and see.

Oh dear, oh very dear! Hope some solution is reached soon.

Very sad look to this!

looks like a prime spot for wetland conservation folks to come around and stake a claim.

Wonderful landscape, wit zig-zag stream..

Love the way you've dealt with the colour processing. Sky versus rest, adds hugely to the overall story telling, Richard.

Wonderful story telling photo capturing the dry lake moment of this dispute/

Neat shot, things always work out better when people work together than when they oppose each other.

Whilst the dispute rumbles on, it will resolve itself. The chateau 'owner' is a nobleman and the chateau will, in due course, pass to his eldest son. In like manner the lake and property will pass to the owner's elder daughter. One hopes that pragmatism will prevail.

A stark reminder of how it used to be...and I believe that it will return to its former glory. Patience is a virtue...

Pond Wars. Sounds like something from reality TV!

What's the verdict on the tx-10, I wonder. I'm very tempted...
December 5th, 2015
@jasperc The XT-10 is a superb little camera... and it is small. I personally like being able to control the main shooting parameters without having to dive into menus. It tends to be the camera that I take with me on motorbike outings, as on this day. I'm just a gadget freak so I'm into Nikon, Sony and Fuji in a fairly big way... most reasonable people would make their buying decision on whether or not they were ready to change camera systems. If you want to move away from Nikon, then you could do worse than than Fuji, their lenses are superb and the XT-10 is available at a very keen price. Decisions, decisions, eh?

@vignouse thanks. Yes, I don't *need* a new toy but lusting after kit is a great displacement activity. What I really need is more time with photography and more time spent studying the great masters...
December 5th, 2015
@jasperc Amen to that - which means I have decisions to make when I reach the end of my second year on here in just over three weeks time!
December 5th, 2015
@vignouse whatever other decisions you make, I hope you won't have to think too hard about a third year here.

Perhaps the owner will be consoled that we have such a good view of his place, Richard! Very nice composition.
