Icy Lake... by vignouse

Icy Lake...

... no ducks, no fishermen, no canoeists - just ice! Paimpont Lake pictured at the end of a cold and dull afternoon.

BoB I think ;-)
I really like the way you make the colours so soft and subtle.

@runner365 Same lake as my PLAY album shot Claes with the pictures taken 28 minutes apart... and thank you.

@vignouse I did connect the dots - or should I say the lakes ... and also to Mrs S's picture.
I was actually thinking about both pictures that the amount of ice and the difference in angle had a big impact on the mirror effect.

@runner365 Mrs S's picture was taken from the north side of the Abbey and as the lake is either surrounded by forest of buildings, the wind can be very different. I confess to taking mine as a deliberate counterpoint to hers ;~}

Like your perspective

The weathered texture of the dock is very well captured. Bob is best.

Ice? I will have to get you a picture of a lake with ice. LOL Serously though love the muted colors again.

I like the muted tones. Definitely better on black.

Lovely composition with a whisper of color on the opposite shore.

There's that faint tinge of color, an look/effect I really like (again). It's like a vacuum has passed over, sucking out the color. I did this in the October ghost series last year -- though not using the same technique you described. Have been experimenting, no results yet.

indeed very good on black - love the muted tones

I like the tones in this. LIke an old time hand painted photo. There is so much texture

@francoise I did this one differently Françoise - it's a 'bleach bypass' effect from Colour Efex Pro4 which I then desaturated a bit more and did some localised levels adjustments. Many roads lead to Rome!
