My two posts 27 January of the ruined mine building attracted some interest so I went back today with a wide-angle lens to better show the extent of Mother Nature's reclamation of this site
This is part of the interior of the iron-ore crushing and washing facility - the Puddle Stamps building. The building sits at the edge of 'l'étang bleu' - the blue pond - formerly an open-cast iron mine but now Paimpont's main reservoir. It is normally flooded up to window level (the blackened part of the tree limbs shows the normal water level) and can't be visited but we're suffering a winter drought and the reservoir level is 2-3 metres below where it should be. I took advantage of that to create a photographic record of the building 106 years after its closure.
This looks to be a very difficult area to walk through. It does make for a very interesting photo along with your history of the site. Excellent on black.
Is GS already morphing this into a future backdrop? @graemestevens
