favorama. so, richard, i was just saying over on my project that i so often like other people's b&w landscapes but not my own. and this is a prime example. would you be prepared to give any tips as to your processing magic? it's a great image in the first place, of course, with pleasing composition and beautifully lit ...
@pistache Thank you Clare but I'm not so sure that your praise is merited. I was in the lane outside the house when I saw that the farm across the fields was in full sunlight with some interesting clouds above it. Now, I have the fortunate knack of being able to visualise what the finished image will look like and I knew that I wanted this one.
Basically I boosted the micro contrasts between the tonal changes and also the cloud textures. The image is cropped to put the farm buildings on the bottom third intersection and it's also toned to give a slight selenium feel to the image. Basically, I play in LR and Silver Efex Pro 2 until the image on the screen looks like the one that I visualised when I first saw the scene. That may not be much help!
@maggiemae Thank you Maggiemae - yes it's on a slope and you can see that all the uprights are indeed upright... it's confusing at the point of capture though!
You have a wonderful view from your garden. The trees are very beautiful, They are pleasantly connected to the houses. Very expressive are the clouds, which fit well into the picture structure of horizontal stripes. Very nice seen and designed. Just beautiful.
well thank you so much for the info. ha - i feared there might be a 'fortunate knack' that i don't possess! still, i can continue to study yours and others' wonderful b&w creations, and see if i can somehow absorb it
Would you consider looking at my b and w sand dunes shot from yesterday and give me any suggestions you might have. I did previsualize it and like it but I see not even very many others are even commenting on it
Something so pleasing about this... the symmetry of the layers? The outer ones quite plain contrasting well with the detailed central ones.. fluffy cloud and trees where the main interest lies.
