I've featured close-up and detail shots of these garage doors before but today I was struck by the shadow patterns cast by the low late-afternoon sun so I decided to post a wider view.
These doors witness the truth of the old saying, 'A creaking gate lasts the longest'!
I'm undecided whether I like it best on black or white...
This is marvellous.
Love this old door that has history. A door that can age with dignity. Which "modern" door can do that in this way?
Beautifully composed in the picture area - with a view of the textures of the boards, the rust stains of the nail heads,... The horseshoe is a nice contrast to the dominant straight lines - it is repeated as a subdued echo in the chain. Very nice also the blurred shadows of the branches - they must not be hard, but just as they are in the photo. Beautiful also the restrained colours - brown in the rust, delicate green in the boards, but in the whole appearing as b&w.
Big fav
