Paimpont 2018: Day 179 - Flower Spike

I have no idea what this plant is although we have two of them in the garden. One gets full sun most of the day and produces multiple flower spikes about 50cm high: this one in deep shade produces one spike about a metre high. This spike has been in bloom for several weeks and its delicate petals are beginning to wither - I think it's at its most spectacular like this.

Definitely BoB...
i'm wondering if it's acanthus. looks marvellous in b&w

I like the emphasis on the structure - b&w really brings it out.

I have one in my garden and it's definitely an Acanthus as Clare Gadsby @pistache already said!
