For my single subject I've chosen the White Knight from a replica copy of the 12C Isle of Lewis chess set. In this first image he takes centre stage backed up by his troops - the Pawns.
They are fabulous. I saw the real thing at a couple of years ago at the museum in Canberra. 100 objects from The History of the World exhibition were on loan from the British Museum.
I look forward to seeing the rest of the weeks submissions. This is such a gorgeous chess set. Funnily enough I thought of the same subject with a Kenyan chess set I have but then spent today photographing birds in the bird reserve so there is going to be a little improvisation on my part and I think I shall stretch the meaning of "same subject" a little!
