@annied is hosting a challenge for April to take 30 shots of the same subject - since I've been struggling for inspiration all year, I've chosen to join in just for the fun of it. I have decided that my subject will be the glass cabinet in our kitchen - here's the eighth glimpse of what you might find within...
...a collection of thimbles from around the world; the one in the front - at 15mm tall - is the smallest item in the glass cabinet collection... probably a child's thimble.
Thimble memories -- each one so distinct. My question: Is your kitchen cabinet made of black glass? How did you get the thimbles (and rooster and other objects you have been showcasing) to have the perfect black background and reflection?
@jyokota Thanks for your comment Junko - the glass cabinet is far too full to photograph stuff in situ so I've been photographing individual objects in a light tent with a suitable colour for the background. The black doesn't always come out black enough but that's easily fixed in post. Where there is a reflection it's because I've placed the object on a sheet of black plexiglass.
@vignouse -- it's brilliant, this idea of @annied to photograph the same object(s) for a month, and therefore to highlight one particular collection. I should have taken that up for my home library, which is odd that I have never photographed and posted. So, a light tent -- my husband purchased a box for me a couple of years ago. So if I put black fabric in that light tent, I could mimic what you are doing here? So far I have only used the white background it comes with. AS for the plexiglass, how thick is it?

I'm the collector, David...like mother, like daughter. Sadly, the absence of charity shops and the like in France, have by default, diminished the effectiveness of my pursuits. Sigh;-(. The ships' decanters were Mum's.
