@annied is hosting a challenge for April to take 30 shots of the same subject - since I've been struggling for inspiration all year, I've chosen to join in just for the fun of it. I have decided that my subject will be the glass cabinet in our kitchen - here's the twenty-eighth glimpse of what you might find within...
...two willow pattern plates and a mug. I'm not a great fan of willow pattern china but these are rather old and nicely done.
Richard I am intrigued by your staging set up! Would you be able (willing!) to tell me how you have achieved the pure black and white backdrops. Thank you :)
My mother had some similar but they came from the grocery store you got so many pieces depending on how much you spent each week. But I am sure yours are a higher quality.
@brigette Hi Brigette - these were done in a light tent lit from both sides but any diffused source of light would do the job. For the white backgrounds I light both the white background and the object I'm photographing and over expose by at least a stop; final adjustments are done in post-processing. For the black backgrounds I light only the subject - keeping as. much of the light as I can off the black background - and under expose by at least a stop... again, final adjustments are done in post-processing. Hope this helps...
Ha ha, I only heard about that challenge today by seeing your post, so I think I have missed the boat somewhat! What an interesting idea. I shall go and explore the rest of your month. Willow Pattern is a favourite of mine too.
Cheers Richard, I'm on my way out. it's been good to follow your works and exchange comments with you.
☺️ thank you, that’s really interesting and helpful
I might just have a little play
