A late view of the east bank of the Nantes-Brest canal at Chateaulin, Finistère - deserted except for three young ladies making their way back to their car... and a lurking photographer of course.
The more we come here, the more pleasure results. I can't easily identify what draws me here. Yet there is much to like, enjoy and appreciate. Consider the Nantes-Brest canal, magnificent countryside, the estuary town of Chateaulin with houses painted in a wonderful array of different colours.
What a difference the POV makes! From the bridge in the nighttime...and in colour (are you unwell?) makes this shot rather special. BTW, did I say I like it?
@koalagardens At three to one it was me that was nervous! I like night-shooting in urban areas - I should probably have dropped the shutter speed to reduce the ISO a bit but the latest Fuji cameras seem to handle ISO 12800 quite well.
Fab night shot.. made so by those 3 figures. Fav!I'm naturally wary of lurking photographers... until I realise they have absolutely no interest in me! And who can blame them?
@lostphojo Thank you David, I did take a bit of trouble with the composition and I had to wait for the girls to be in the right place... although I took a couple of 'bankers' beforehand. In the final image, the leading line of the lit tow-path takes your eye out to the infinity point, it then returns along the line of lit buildings and stops at the girls bang on the lower thirds intersection... there might have been a bit of luck involved too ;-))
@vignouse Mainly your skill I think Richard! For me the lead-line and the those girls create a tension as our eyes switch back and forth; I like that. Taking a shot in such a way that there is an obvious resting point is probably second nature for photographers of a certain age (like you and me.) I get so dissatisfied with doing that, so this photo excites me!
