Mrs S does the rota and organises a small group of people who open and close Paimpont Abbey each day of the year. It's Mrs S's turn herself this week, but as she's away, it falls to me to do it. One of the things to be done every day is to light and extinguish the votive candles in front of the 14th century statue of Notre Dame de Paimpont. Easy at this time of the year - only 14 when I closed this evening - but at the height of the summer, there can be over 200!
@kt8ird Normally, I don't get involved with opening and closing unless She is away. I do the planning for the 'animateurs' - the lay service leaders, of which I'm one. My turn next Sunday...
