A Year of Days: Day 198 - Élagage

Today the contractors came to prune the trees in our garden to ensure that they remain the regulation distance from the high voltage power-lines which pass over the garden. This year they were slightly less brutal than in earlier years but the result is still far from pretty... and the pile of branches for me to dispose of is bigger than ever.

There are some very odd trees because of the pruning for the wires. May be one of the biggest prices we pay for what the wires bring us.

...not to mention that for the most part it was raining. They were polite and pleasant; sadly this can no longer be expected from all.

Unfortunately those guys just trim to clear the way. The don't trim to make beautiful. We have trees in Hollywood where the growth is on one side ant the tree is now leaning precariously or there is a big chunk out of the middle. Now why they would plant such big tree a where they will obviously grow up and into power lines is beyond me. I did see that lately that have been removing a few of them completely.
