Today was the start of the ONS 10 challenge with the theme of Minimalism... my image may have been minimalist, the set-up was a little more involved! You can see the large glass of wine on the kitchen table in the background, in case of emergencies ;-))
Oh, the work that goes in to the 'simple' shots! I bet that wine went down well. And judging from the background, was there recently a milestone birthday? Happy belated birthday Richard!
@kiwisnapper@mcsiegle Ashley, Mary - thank you. The birthday card was a personal one designed by Mrs S and it has been sitting on that table for almost a year because I like it so much. I'm waiting to see what she comes up with on December 2nd this year... only three weeks to wait.
Thanks for sharing this! I feel like a shirker now, for simply crawling around the base of the stairs (one option for today) or shooting away at a sponge. Now I see how the sponge could have been vastly improved with a different light setup!
What a great shot of the behind the scenes, not so minimalist, set up! I too spotted the birthday card, and read your comment on it. How lovely that your wife goes to all that bother. You'll need to share this year's version on 365! :-)
@panthora Hi Osia - yes, they're daylight balanced lamps made for photography. I usually use these with my light-tent but it was too awkward for this shot as I had already decided that I wanted to photograph this from above. I should have persevered as I could have controlled the shadows better and saved some work in post-production.
