The main living room in an abandoned and ruined farmhouse a kilometre or so north of us across the fields. I agonised for the longest time over whether to post this in colour or B&W: in the end, although the monochrome shot had more punch, I felt that this one conveyed the pathos of the situation better.
This is for my PLAY project - you can read more about it in my profile - where I'll be using a different prime lens for each month of the year: for April it's the Fujinon 27mm f/2.8 on an APS-C sensor camera (today the Fuji X-T10) - the equivalent of a 40mm lens on a full-frame camera.
@seattlite@jamibann Hello Gloria and Issi - thanks for your comments. I'm not sure how you were both viewing this but it's actually a colour image, albeit that the colours are very muted as the room was quite dark. It's actually more dramatic in pure B&W but it doesn't have the tinge of neglect, decay and sadness that this version has.
Since we estimate that this house was abandoned about 15 years ago, I'm saddened and ashamed, that so recently the last member of the family lived in such rude conditions.
At first glance I took it for black and white but on closer inspection I see the colours and I agree the softer tones make it a more human and emotional shot.
