Small by wakelys

Small

I inherited my lovely Mum’s thimbles. She was a Digitabulist (thimble collector) sadly i do not have the same love of the thimbles as she had so the 100+ thimbles are in a box. I have included the normal/standard size thimble to appreciate how small the small one is.
Wht a fabulous word for a thimble collector! My Grandma used to collect thimbles too. What a gorgeous little tiny one

The small one is adorable! As a collector of (too) many things, I love to see and read about other people's collections.

Oh these take me back to learning to sew with my mother. She tried so hard to teach me to sew with a thimble on hand work, and I could never the hang of it. She had one she treasured because it fit her finger so well. I wonder how many young people know what these are?

I Love thimbles!! When I go yard saling or to estate sales I am always on the lookout. I always think to myself I wonder how often this was used and all the clothes, etc it helped to make or repair. Sewing is a lost art. I don't buy the ones with pictures or designs, only ones like this. These were always used. The frou frou ones were never used. They were for decorations. Would love to go through the collection!!

That's such an unusual thimble size. Nice to see it next to a standard sized one. I never knew that digitabulist was the word for a collector - very interesting.

Nice to see it next to the normal size. I like how clear your picture is. It is easy (and fun) to read that it was meant for girls -10

Your focus is fantastic. I like the tiny bokeh in the thimble holes and the overall simplicity and clarity of the image.

Lovely shot. The small one must be for little children. One of my sisters-in-law collects them - at least she used to.
