Behind

Christmas cake usually made by now but broken wrist in October put a stop to that. So a little behind this year with the cake. Having to improvise with some of the ingredients but generous slug of brandy and all should be ok.
The Brandy will do me nicely.

The improv sounds great...nice lighting and fits the word behind nicely.

You can't go wrong with a slug of brandy, or maybe two and even one in a glass to help the baking process.

I made mine a couple of weeks ago but had to buy a new bottle of brandy to soak the dried fruit. Enjoy!

That sounds like a great plan, looking forward to see the result. I love Christmas cake but hubby not, so no baking for me.

Looks good already!

I’m sure it will be fine! I haven’t made a cake for years. I’m now of the age where I think it’s a lot of faff & the shops make them just well, even presenting them in nice boxes 🤣 yep the role of earth mother passed me by 🤣

Ooooh, i’d love a spoonful of golden syrup right now.

@foxes37 I stocked up on Brandy last year.
November 21st, 2020
@marlboromaam if only that were possible.

@ludwigsdiana the cake gets smaller every year as not so popular and sadly our Mums are now longer with us.

@jacqbbother than the flour they are all tasty components.

@carole_sandford the faffing is part of the fun, the smell of it cooking evokes good memories and always tastes better than shop bought I think.
November 21st, 2020
@spuddy it should be treacle but didn’t have any!
November 21st, 2020
Oh my, that is gonna be good! I don't think if I make a cake now it will have any left overs by the time x-mas comes around.
November 21st, 2020
Bet it comes out very tasty.
November 21st, 2020
@dutchothotmailcom the earlier you start means that there is more time to add alcohol.
November 21st, 2020
@bill_gk let’s hope so.

Is this like fruitcake??
November 22nd, 2020
I'm impressed that you make these from scratch. I like them, but no one to eat them but me. So if I find a small one, I'll buy it. I may be skipping this year.

What a wonderful combo of ingredients - especially the Golden Syrup!

Nice selection of ingredients for your Christmas cake. Same recipe Christine has though she uses any type of alcohol to add to the cake - depending on what is available at home at the moment.
