It's remarkable how people still remember my grandfather, Sydney Wooderson, after so many years. He was a quiet, reserved person but he had a passion for running which inspired, and possibly continues to inspire, many other athletes.
He was awarded an OBE for his achievements, and was registered in the Hall of Fame a few years ago.
Here he is with my grandmother and I about six years ago, shortly before he passed on. I remember him fondly, as a modest and gentle man who never had a cross word to say.
