Greenfield Village

"You can have any color you want, so long as it's black." — Henry Ford

Mother's Day 2019 — the start of our 9-day journey up the coast of Lake Huron and back down Lake Michigan to visit as many lighthouses on the coast of Michigan we can find.

We left the house today at 10:00 a.m. and headed straight for Detroit. We managed to get a couple National Park stamps despite the rain. Henry Ford's Greenfield Village was our last stop. We got our NP Passport stamped at the Guest Services desk including member MBR stamps on our hands for free admission. We weren't sure why she did that except it was raining and towards the end of the day. Super nice thing to do! With that small act of kindness, I knew it was going to be a great vacation.

It was fun perusing GV with an umbrella in one hand and my iPhone taking pics in the other. Whenever a Model T or Model A would drive by I thought of my Dad. He was a car collector and we used to have both in our garage when I was a kid. My friends loved to come over for a ride and Dad loved to give them. ❤️

@777margo Thank you! I am slow today as I'm posting one photo from each of our 9 days on the road looking for Michigan lighthouses. It takes me a while to write the descriptions.

How cool! What a great place to stop and visit. Love the vintage mural and colors.

@gardenfolk Add Michigan to your list of places to visit although I'm sure it won't be a top priority. You have too many other places to go.
