The Endeavour by yorkshirekiwi

The Endeavour

Yesterday we had to be in Auckland for a wedding. As we booked into our accommodation on the wharf we realised the replica Endeavour was sailing into the harbour. We quickly dumped our luggage and went to watch her berth.
The ship has met with both celebration and protest.
The Tuia 250 Voyage marks 250 years of European arrival in New Zealand
Some Maori activists claim the celebrations are offensive
The UK says it "regrets" deaths of Maori after Captain Cook's arrival
Fabulous pic!! fav

What a wonderful sight. We saw the replica Endeavour when it came to Nelson Bay a few years ago. It was so interesting to go aboard and see how Captain Cook and his crew lived.

Such an impressive sight. I sailed my own boat over much of James Cook's routes and I have immense respect for his skills.
