Before we set off home we stopped at the railway station in Tauramanui. Unused rail carriages were sent here seven years ago by Auckland Transport to await sale or re-assignment. Security was initially provided but this ceased, allowing for vandalism to occur.
The carriages have deteriorated and are now being removed for scrap. We were given permission to cross the railway line to photograph some of these old trains.
