Just got confirmation that payment was deposited via paypal, so I have officially sold a print. The great thing about Facebook is that when someone comments on a link, unless they make it visible only to you, their friends also see it, so someone connected to one of my friends on Facebook saw my shot below and said her daughter had to have it for her birthday.
I'm still awestruck over how quickly this shot has been so well received. I also want to thank all 39 of you that have fav'd this shot. It doesn't matter to me that it didn't make the top 20... I love it, the 39 of you love it, and this woman's daughter loved it so much she "needed" it for her birthday and that is all that matters :)
@jonesp I'm using a semi local camera shop.. they cost a bit more than Mpix, but I know they do an excellent professional job and I've never had any prints done through Mpix before so can't vouch for them. I wasn't sure what to charge, so I told her what my cost was and how much time I spent processing and told her to add what she felt was fair to my cost and that would be the price for an 11x16 and she added $25 so that's what I'll make off it after I pay for the printing and shipping
Very good young man. I must say I love the photo. It has drama (which I like), and it has a natural feel (which I also like).
For the the top 20 is almost a waste of space as it is something that I never look at or even care about. What matters to me is the coin....
If someone is willing to part with their hard earned money to buy one of my prints then that is the ultimate compliment and it kicks arse over any top 20. :)
What paper did you print it on? This image would rock on metallic!!!!!!
I must say, pricing prints is one of the hardest things to come to terms with and to explain to clients. They all think that a photo only took as long to make as it took the photographer to click the button. Now we all know that isn't the reality.
So I must say, well done on not only taking such a great photo, but also getting through that pricing process and actually selling a print.
@agima I let her know the paper options with pricing that were available and she chose the kodak endura glossy... but now that you mention it.... I planned on also doing a print for myself and I agree that metallic paper would be great! Thanks!
I get some clients that ask about metallic prints and I have really only one response...
The clarity and depth in the image is amazing as you almost get a 3D look, and if after you receive your prints and you don't agree, I will refund your money, no questions asked.
I have not has one person ask for their money back. :)
Now having said that, metallic is not for every print but this one... Hell YEAH... ;-)
@jsw0109 - What size did you print it? This is always a question I have been asked and I don't have a good answer. But congrats Jeff, I too have enjoyed that feeling that someone has shelled out some hard earned greens to have one of your photographs hanging on their wall.
agree with Cathy your photos are amazing . Hope this is the first of many if that is what you want....Think I FAV'ed this but I'll go back and look to make sure. You Rock !!!
Congrats, it is a beautiful photo....now how much did you charge her (if you don't mind to say)? One of my mothers friends has also asked me to buy a print of one of my photos, but it just seemed wrong to charge her for it. She insisted upon something so is sending me a gift card to a coffee shop.
Hope this is the first of many more for you!
@newbie I let her know what my total cost would be for what she wanted and also let her know how much time I put into post processing and told her since she wanted to make sure I made something for myself, to just add however much she felt was fair for the work/photo and she added $25 to the total price, so that's what I made. She went with 11x16 print.
How on earth did i miss this photo in the first place !!!!! wow...congratulations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well done, i have also sold my first print and really had no idea how much to charge.... porb let it go too cheap but then its noce to just think someone want your work so who cares.....but i must really find what realistically i should charge...again well done :)
@debsulzberger I have no idea what the going rate is... I was thrilled with how much she added for me though. The camera shop is going to let me swing by and see it before they ship it
How did you/are you handling the printing etc? And does this mean you have money to order some prints for yourself now? :-)
thank you!!!!
