Sheila Wylie (in shock at winning)
Thank you so much for your votes on tag challenge 138. Also thank you, Kathy Burzynski @myhrhelper for hosting the last tag challenge. So now, let's play!
Here are the rules for Tag Challenge 139:
Step 1: Go to the "Browse" section and select the "By Tag" link. Close your eyes and randomly click on a tag.
Step 2: Do it again - no peeking!
These two tags are now your photo assignment. You will use your two randomly chosen tags as an inspiration to create one picture that encompasses both tags... or for an added challenge you can try three tags if you want to!
Please CLEARLY state your two (or three) tags when you post your entries as this will let me know what your tags were. You may submit more than one entry (using the same tags).
For this challenge if you choose a set of words that you feel would be impossible to do anything with, rather than skip the challenge, you may opt for the host’s tag words of "golden" and "evening" (pure chance!) or for those of you doing the three-tag challenge, try "golden", "evening" and the last tag I got was “ home” (selected randomly by me as above).
Start of challenge: Today, GMT Tuesday 28th Feb, , 2017
End of challenge: GMT 12.00 miday wed 15th March 2017,
Voting starts: immediately after the end challenge date
Winner announced: soon after
Tag your entries tag-challenge-139
NOTE - Photos must be taken within the challenge time frame to be considered for a vote.
The number of finalists will be chosen depending on number of entries.
Tag away, folks and have fun!
Sheila
Please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't answer posts fairly promptly. The time difference means I am asleep when many of you are not :)
I am tagging everyone who was tagged by Kathy including relatively new people to this site and will check if any others entered 138, and tag them too , please forgive any mistakes, duplications or omissions. I do hope I am ok with the timing of the challenge too. Thanks Kathy, I have borrowed your words and edited to suit.
Also, would love to see your shots so don't forget to post them on this thread!!
Since this is challenge 139 I would like to get at least 39 people joining the challenge. Can we do it????
@30pics4jackiesdiamond@jorlam JackieR that sound workable, looking forward to your image . Jorlam.. no worries -well not about you... but am terrified of admining this, I'm such a newbie!
@karvelis Not a dumb question... I asked them last challenge . One pic and I'm 'expert' LOL! OK post as your normal daily offering but tag it as: tag-challenge-139 in the tags box that appears below where you add a description and title to your image. To add it to this string I will pass on the instructions I was given by Dawn Louise
"Go to the photo. Click on the arrow button underneath the photo. When you do that, an embed code comes up. Click in that box and it will be highlighted. Hit ctrl C on your keyboard (or right click and go to copy). Then go to the thread and in the comment section you'll hit ctrl V (or right click paste). A bunch of weird letters and numbers will show up. Just hit "post reply" below and the picture will show up. Hope I made this clear enough "
@365karly1 maybe open the tag and see what was tagged with it in the first place that may inspire you, it IS an odd tag , well done for not cheating with another go :) I , perhaps, would look at characters, people who 'live' on film..Batman... Indiana Jones, Scarlet O'Hara..... but as I have to choose the top pics to go forward for voting on please don't go with one of my suggestions it could put me in a difficult position.....
p.s.I do color as well as colour..bi- lingual LOL!
Sheila,
I did open the tag and I can see no commonality about the photos - looks like photos of anything. I would like a wee bit more direction though. Any suggestions?
@365karly1 if you are struggling with your tags there is the option to go with go with the hosts blind pick of tags, which this time are 'golden' and 'evening' which are so easy that going for the third word 'home' as well might make the challenge more satisfying. Please don't get stressed over that awful "film-lives" I'm going to peek at them myself..... see what I can make of the collection.
@365karly1 I see what you mean , nearly 5,000 pictures with no discernible link to each other or the tag! Awful!
Do you live near a cinema? Maybe I'd look at people using it if I was not going with a film character but it is up to you ...sleep on it you may get inspiration ..or go with the 'host's tags'.
@tiffanyparadis Hi, Tiffany, welcome, as you may have worked out I won the honour of hosting with my first pic ..and that was my first go at ANY challenge on this site so I know just how you feel.... I am looking forward to seeing everyone's interpretation of their tags... it is quite exciting! Nice pair of words you have for your first entry.
@365karly1@wylieclicks 'film-lives' is a tag used by those who shoot using film cameras and not digital cameras. That's why you don't see a discernible link between the pictures posted.
@karvelis I have just looked, congratulations you are the first entry , well done! However you need to add to your description the two words you 'blind picked' off the tag page as the skill in interpreting the pair of words is part of what is judged. You may have used them but it is not clear if 'wet' 'snowy' or 'day' were your challenge words.
@salza Thank you so much! That clears up that problem. However I understand we can interpret the 'tag' word as we choose so I won't expect @365karly1 to go and buy a film camera! However @365karly1 you might have an old film camera in the loft to use as a prop, after all what we call 'film' you call 'movie' so my British interpretation of 'film-lives' may not appeal ..... to get a thorny problem on my first go as host- just my luck!
@klowery@chelsea32 If you go to browse you can search by tag. Close your eyes and select 2 tags (I got wood and nature) take a photo that depicts your tags (I could do a tree, a bread board on grass, wooden fruit---- ooh now there's some ideas for me!!!)
When I upload my photo(s) I will tag it/ them tag-challenge-139 and all entries for this month will go together in that tag group for Sheila to then choose her favourite photos that best depict the tags.
Hope this makes sense to you and well done @wylieclicks on your hosting of this, hope you get 139 entries!!
@365karly1 film-lives is a tag people use for when they have used actual film to take their photo, if you dont do film perhaps photograph a photo taken with a film camera as part of a stillife, or if you have a film camera in the cuoboard take a picture of that, hope that helps.
Thank you Kali - so funny that you got film-lives as well! I have no film camera around so I will probably just use the host words if I decide to pursue this challenge.
@karvelis@chelsea32@klowery@brender Interesting pairs of words all of you...I can't wait to see what they inspire. Have fun, remember you can post more than one pic over the course of the challenge as long as you use the same tag words to inspire you each time. Any problems just shout , if I can't help there are many kind and more knowledgeable people who will but the essential info is in the text I copied and pasted to the top of this thread. Goodnight!
@wylieclicks Hi Sheila - congratulations on your win - those cups and there story were just fantastic!! I got "new" and "harbour"!!! Not living near the water - going to be interesting.
Must admit - had a second go for the second word and got "bug"!!! - was very tempted!! Cheers
@littleconnie nice pair to work with, @kathyboyles Thanks..for you entry. @robz thanks for your kind remarks, I am looking forward to your 'new' 'harbour' ...it is tough not being by the sea but as I said to Dyan it does not have to be a real object.... I have a great idea for your words but I can't tell you! lol! @brender Love your words.... really looking forward to seeing you interpretation.
@karvelis Jean, are you using an iPad or a PC? Also I wanted you to know that you need to edit your picture title and add the two tags that you used to make your nice entry. Kathy
@karvelis I copied the instructions I was given last month, as I asked the same question! Look near the top of this thread and you will see I mailed you before with the instructions... 6th post down second half of post, with thanks to Dawn Louise. Let me know if you cannot find it.
@kathyboyles Thanks for helping Jean out @olivetreeann For a moment I thought you were calling me "old Duck" it is a term of endearment in south of UK! LOL! Don't envy you that pair :)
Moon & green.
Living in the tropics, I have green, but the moon will not be full and bright during the period of this challenge. So...my "moon" is a round security light. Hope that's not cheating--let me know and I'll think harder.
@keidoesathing going for three...... I admire you :) @chelsea32 - Nice hyacinths, thanks for entering. @brender You did not have to admit that is not a real moon- it looks convincing, this is all about interpreting your two or three words, if you want your image to look like a moon, even if it is not, that is fine by me.
@klowery No pressure to do it - no worries if you don't. I'v had a look at some of your images..love the keyboard and feet also the little pond with the tree reflection, you have a nice fresh style.
@kathyboyles Jean, If you are using an iPad, go to Your Pictures and find the picture that you want to put in this thread. Under the picture are four objects. Following the star is a curved arrow. Click on the arrow and open a box revealing the link to your picture. Click on it until it turns black and above it "select all". To the right will be "copy". Select it. Then go to the main menu and find contest with this thread. Go to the bottom. You will see "Write a Reply". You may then enter text like Fire and landscape (then return)
At the curser at the beginning of a new line, press the curser and choose "paste". A bunch of garbage will appear. Don't worry. Post Reply and your picture will be there!
@kathyboyles Thanks for helping I do hope Jean can figure it out between your help and the instructions I posted from Dawn Louise, who helped me out last month .
@farmreporter@30pics4jackiesdiamond, Hi, thanks for breaking the silence :) JackieR kudos for NOT just doing trees! Things that grow on trees made with wood..much more subtle! Wendy - how inventive are you going to get? Dying to see what you come up with.
I got "black & white" and color for my tags and I thought I might not participate but then I had a photo-shoot with the black background and she came wearing a white shirt - and the photo was in color so I think it works.
@myhrhelper lovely interpretation of your tags, I was wondering how you would reconcile the apparently unreconcilable :) @brender What a lovely abstract effect .
@brender That's what drew me to this challenge...the brainwork! Sometimes my brain feels a bit underutilized now I am retired I do all sorts of physical and voluntary things but they don't stretch the intellect!
Ooops! I was going to post my photo this afternoon - but did not look at the time zone - I am in Ontario, Canada and still on the 15th here. Oh, well, I guess I have to pay better attention next time.
Also, would love to see your shots so don't forget to post them on this thread!!
