The Artist Challenge Vote is Finally Here

May 30th, 2019
It was my intention to have this posted many days ago. But a visit to family and the following sap of energy (that vacations are supposed to restore!) have me posting this much later than desired. My apologies to all the participants for having to wait so long!

My thought in selecting the finalists was to find images that captured Patterson's creative and unique way of seeing the world and the broad scope of images which do that. I based these selections on pictures from his website and the book "Photography and the Art of Seeing" which has made a huge impact on me. This was not an easy task as everyone who participated truly understood Patterson's photographic approach and style.

I finally had to admit I could not narrow it down to 5 choices nor could I post the 9 (plus one or two more!) I thought deserved recognition. I finally settled on 7 and now it's up to you to select the winner. So here they are:

1. Escape @robz (Based on his Odyssey collection)

2. Autumn Reed @wenbow (Patterson often uses ICM or natural movement in his images)

3. Freeman Patterson Challenge @jeneurell (Patterson uses multiple exposures to create movement and pattern)

4. Natural Things @ludwigsdiana (Based on his Natural Collection)

5. Stalking @helenhall (Using Patterson's technique of stopping frequently and photographing a series of 25 pictures of what you see at hand)

6. Stone on Sand @etienne (Based on his Earth collection)

7. In the Pond @taffy (Patterson loves golden/brown earth tones and patterns created by all things natural)

Congratulations to all the finalists and might I suggest checking these honorable mentions out because I just couldn't put them all up for the vote!
