I've just been diagnosed with tendonitis in my left shoulder and have been told it needs complete rest and that I am absolutely NOT allowed to hold the dog's lead in that hand. How, I am asking myself, am I going to take photos now?!! It's a disaster!! So this one was taken in my garden first thing this morning after a new gentle snowfall overnight. It was a truly beautiful morning and I enjoyed taking Adam to school although we really do need to find his bus stop - it has been relocated due to roadworks and we can't find it! I was sorely tempted to park up on my way home and head off with my camera but I've got way too much to do. I've been arranging group flights to a karate competition and I hadn't realised quite how time consuming it would be. I am way behind with work and there's lots to do before we go away next week but the stress factor has eased considerably since Wednesday then they told me that for technical reasons they had to cancel all the flights they were holding and reapply for them with no guarantee of either seats or prices. After two sleepless nights all is well - phew!!

Wow you have a beautiful back garden. Looks fab in the snow. Sorry about your shoulder - a possible tip, when I take Poppy out on the lead I use a short one and then just put in on the floor and stand on it when I'm taking a pic. Gets dirty but you can wash it - or put up with it being dirty I suppose!
This is gorgeous. So sorry re your shoulder. I get tendinitis frequently and know what a drag it is. Poor Monty! hope it heals quickly. Acupuncture as well as rest has helped me the most
Wow that is a stunning winter scene! Fav for me.
Sorry to hear about your shoulder. My cousin has the same and he's a keen snapper too. He's taken to using a tripod a lot but thats no good if you're out walking. Hope your shoulder gets time to heal but it doesn't sound like it will from what you've said.
Glad you finally got your flights all sorted. Airline companies are the absolute worst to deal with in my opinion so well done for getting a result!
Oh no, you're going to have to invent some new kind of lead-holding contraption. Have they suggested anything other than rest to help it get better? Good news about those flights. It was so beautiful this morning with the sunshine on the snow - until Maia cut her paw open! So glad she did it this morning when we were five minutes from home and not in the middle of North Essex yesterday though!
It's a winter wonderland ~ so beautiful!!
Hate to hear about your poor shoulder...but it's good that you got it checked and diagnosed. Hopefully you'll be good as new in short order! You have a perfect excuse to put the Marigolds away and wait for the cleaning lady to recover. :) Take care of yourself, Judith! Glad you no longer have travel arrangement stress to deal with on top of everything else.
Brilliant capture - sorry to hear about your shoulder and hope it gets better soon. Glad you are getting your flights sorted - it's always a worry when things don't go according to plan
wow...we're really not that far away and we had no new fall. This looks beautiful...what a lovely garden you have....nice 'winter' house. Sorry about your shoulder...its amazing how these pains affect our whole being.
You have a beautiful garden there, the snow makes it a pretty picture. It's so hard to rest when there is loads to do. Hope your shoulder improves soon.
@fueast See - look at all those trees I could use to feed a wood burner... I'll have to try the stand on lead approach - not so easy with an extending lead but probably better than the unstable between the knees option.
great snow scene Judith - I was in Northampton today and there was a fair amount still when I got home tonight! sorry to hear about your shoulder, I hope this doesn't affect your photography!
@peggysirk I'm going on holiday next week Peggy and there will be a woman I've never met staying in the house to help with the house/dog sitting - the shame of my dirty house... Marigolds are calling but they're calling the kids' names!! I'll just go round giving constructive criticism...
@judithg Yeah deforestation. Really good for the environment. Could you buy yourself a cheap rope lead? Actually I gave up on using an extending one because it just encouraged Poppy to wander off and I found on slippy steep paths I was getting pulled all over the place.
Incredibly beautiful! I's sure you will figure out a creative way to walk the dog and take photos! Just be sure to take care so that it will heal properly!
@anron Thanks for the fav and sympathy. The airline lady has been very helpful but the system is really complicated and I don't really understand the process - and to make it worse the flights are near the Olympics so there are extra rules for group bookings.
Wow - what a beautiful back garden - how come we haven't seen it before? Maybe we'll see more of it in the future? Tendonitis - is it painful? Hope it's better soon.
lovely garden scene. sorry to hear about your shoulder pains.. too tired to recommed stuff apart from the obvious massage etc options but i know you'll know all that. keep warm!
beautiful garden scene, great composition - the tendonitis sounds a total pain - rest until it's stopped being quite so painful I guess then gently getting it work again - standing on the lead, and hooking it around an ankle? I have (when juggling dog and baby/toddler) done that and also inelegantly held the lead between my knees temporarily
I suppose a long line tied around your waist for Monty is out of the question - unless you want to have a go at dog-sledding!!! You have a beautiful garden - even in the winter!!
Sorry to hear about your shoulder, Judith. Your back garden looks quite beautiful with all the snow on the surrounding branches. I hope that you'll be able to continue to take your shots without adding to the tendonitis. I've now finished my project and am looking forward to a break.
This is sooo gorgeous Judith! Looks like you are having a wonderful winter (maybe a tiny little bit too cold ... hehe). Take a lash assistant with you and you are still able to shoot :)
Somehow i've missed the exciting moment when you changed cameras.
really sorry to hear about the tendonitis, how frustrating. Bur this is a lovely shot and so well framed.
Have read all down these comments & aren't people wonderful ...all concerned about any aches & pains we have ! I do hope your shoulder improves but might take a while !! Rest up next week while you are away with no dog to walk & no carrying any suitcases !!! Sod the cleaning, your lady won't have much else to do except clean your house & walk Monty !!! When you come back just give Monty a good talking to & he will stand by your side as good as gold while you take a picture !! Good job you have finished your project as you don't have to post every day !!!
On this photo your garden looks so beautiful & that summer house is heaven on earth for a lazy book reading afternoon !! What is the bluish door like building at the rear of the picture ? Yes lots of trees for woodburning but you would be amazed how those things eat wood & I think these trees are too perfect to burn !!!
@happypat The green wooden building is Nigel's office (bit cold at the moment!) and the blue door is a summer house which contains gym equipment (apparently!) seen better in this pic from spring
I wouldn't really burn the trees - I was just trying to upset @fueast but we do get a lot of dead wood off them and we have a laburnum about to come down as it has a fungal disease - my neighbour has a wood burner though so he takes stuff - I don't know if you can burn laburnum as it's poisonous -I'lll have to check because our cat gets very close to their fire!!
Oh what a gorgeous garden you have and what a beautiful winter morning. Sorry to hear about your shoulder. Monty's going to go nuts without his daily walks!
I love the way the shrubs frame the summer house :)
