film February - Fairy Chimney Police Station - Cappadocia
Whilst I saw the rocks carved into all sorts of places from pigeon coops to homes to chapels, my favourite was this police station, best of all it appeared to be in current use.
I visited a ceramics factory/shop nearby - they had wonderful hand painted ceramics. I was browsing in the shop and a salesman approached me and asked if I came on the bus, when I responded I had arrived in my car he advised the price for me was 30% off the sticker point and then we could bargain. He asked me where I was from and I responded Ankara, he smiled broadly and told me the price for me was 50% off the sticker price and then we could bargain. He asked me if I liked Turkey and I responded in Turkish that Turkey was very beautiful - the price for me became 60% off the sticker price and then we could bargain.
Great story and shot. Just as an aside, I think many prisoners would feel a bit inadequate when arriving to see this view. Perhaps that was intentional.
What an incredible 'building' - never seen anything like it before! What a funny salesman, hope you got a bargain!
PS I've heard the police referred to as chooks as well..........!!!
@jenrobcarr@trude@hollandcrew@brizmako I didn't end up buying anything from the ceramics salesman - even at 60% off it was far more expensive than a shop near the embassy in Ankara, so I bought from there instead.
@chewyteeth these shots were generally my Canon EOS 30E, I cannot remember what brand/ISO I used at the time, I scanned some of my negs years ago, but now I have a new scanner capable of better resolutions so will rescan and take note of the film specifications.
I also had a Canon APS SLR - Canon EOS IX7 - the cameras were stolen when i was burgled a couple of years back
@lbmcshutter
Canon APS SLR!! whoo, I didn't know they made them, is APS a big boring easy-to-use thing or is it different in some way, I've got an APS camera but can't justify buying expensive film and paying for expensive developing. Ooh, and whats the scanner, I'm desperate for a film scanner, but my budget just runs to a flat bed with the adaptor thing, are they any good in your experience?
@chewyteeth It was a good starter SLR for me - the first one I owned and it allowed me to change film mid roll with a touch of a button, I was able to swap ISOs and between b&w and colour at will.
The scanner is a flatbed - an Epson v600 Perfection Photo - seems OK, I'm still trying to work out optimum settings, just got it
great bartering too!
