A number of the big crocs were missing limbs courtesy of the other crocodiles. This one looked like a fairly recent injury. I saw some that were missing part of a limb or, as in this case, the entire limb. It didn't seem to stop them from being able to do anything, I was told they can live for many years with parts (or all) of all 4 legs missing. brutal life for them

Meanwhile, in Canberra we've had frost the last couple of mornings and I am still waiting on the heater repairman.

Brutal existence but that doesn't seem to stop them from being incredibly successful. Tough character, you seem to be toughing out the chilly weather and lack of heating. Good luck getting the repairs done. Nice shot.

Great capture, Megan. I bet you're feeling like a bit of Top End warmth right now!
(Off to Sydney now, see you when I get back in a few days.)

amazing that they don't bleed to death, they must have good clotting processes. wonderful action capture Megan!

Ouch - they are remarkable creatures Megan - they say that they are practically unchanged since the age of dinosaurs - meaning that they haven't had to make any adaptations whatsoever, to survive. They are efficient survivors - exactly as they are - with or without all their limbs obviously :-)

wow, that's quite brutal, amazing that they can heal from such injuries!

In the Croc Farm that I visited in Jayapura, many of the Crocodiles were well scarred and many had the nick-name of Stumpy.
