Still Life for Whites on Whiteish

April is another get pushed challenger to get me to do high key, but this time with the added challenge of adjusting the white balance.
After loads of shots this is the best. Its WB is daylight with fluorescent (alternative to how achieved is here https://365project.org/30pics4jackiesdiamond/extra-special-o/2017-01-24 )

Recognise that vase

@aecasey April, I used a variety of props for the still life each with a different white, played with the WB and positioning the light. It's not perfect, but I've truly had enough as it's not feeling like playing anymore!!! I don't have the post processing skills or tools to make it pure white so the yellowness adds an antique effect (don't you think!!)
@phil_sandford and to think we nearly threw it away but Rich rescued it for the following Christmas. It must be at least 50 years old now!!

Great set-up Jackie. It may be white on white but its the blacks which makes it stand out.

Ooooo...So Elegant! You did a great job! I think it is the slight variations of white and the shadows that make a white on white pleasing, and this one is lovely. Must say ... you were very, very diligent in your learning process. Way to push through!!!!

50-year old vase, you nearly threw it? are you insane? well, not insane like my insane anyway. that is an awesome vase and when we get paired off AGAIN, be assured it will feature in your push. :-P

nice comp, but were you aiming for high key again? who are these people who are trying to torture you?

Now I wonder if another light hitting just at the base might brighten the hand. Also did you intend to have the focus on the vase. I might think on the hand. But your picture (done very well) your choice.

@jmdspeedy thanks john
@aecasey thank you, I don't like the yellow
@summerfield thanks Vikki we grew up with it and when house clearing..... I did regret the decision but for a joke middle brother gave 3 of us one object each he'd 'rescued'. He was so disappointed I was pleased!!
@joansmor I agree, now its uploaded however am pleased with changing dof on Christmas beads!!

@summerfield I'm the torturer...I guess I didn't consider how close a white on white challenge was to high key.
January 24th, 2017
@aecasey don't you be bullied by @summerfield you gave me the option to do something else!! Thanks for this, I learnt about WB, learnt more about +/- and have gained confidence. That's what get pushed is about though isn't it. How's your monochrome coming a long???
January 24th, 2017

Super still life set up. I like how the black seems to pop.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Keeping an eye out for some strong contrasts. We have snow today, and I'm kind of thinking about a fence line or something with trees. We'll see!
