I've bought a film, been on YouTube to look at how to load it. I've found pictures of what all the buttons do and tips on how to ensure apperture and shutter speed work together on the dial on the side.
Next sunny day. I'm going outside, to take my 12(!!!!) photos, then take them to a shop and wait for days (!!!!!) to see results of my endeavours.
It's 30 years since I last used this camera and I anticipate total failure. This photo taken on my 'phone- how technology moved on since this classic camera designed.
Wish me luck- but seriously any advice, tips or websites to visit- all welcomed.
Have a look at this Youtube tutorial Jackie I don't know if you have seen it but it seems to cover all the basics from loading the film to setting the camera, focusing and taking the shot, hope this is of help:)
@pcoulson thank you have looked at some YouTube links, unfortunately you didn't provide the the link you recommend Peter!! @mona65 Mona, it was my mum's I have many memories of her using it, she was rarely in front of a camera!! I want to give it a go as j
I have a bit of a better understanding of settings and it will be a good test; if expensive, of my expertise. I agree it is cool!!!
That's awesome that it was your mum's! I have a picture of my mother taking a picture, but no camera. I wouldn't know how to operate this, but I don't think you'll be a complete failure as you seem to be doing the proper research before you actually use it. What advice I can give you is the same for any photographic endeavor and camera- pay attention to the light and adjust the camera accordingly. I hope you'll be able to show us at least one of the 12 shots you take!
Wishing you tons of luck. I haven’t a clue to tell you were even to begin but if you have used it before I’m sure it will come back to you and I’m so excited to see the results
Wow, great shot. My dad had one of these and I have it now but haven't used it in years and wouldn't remember how. Have fun with it, Jackie. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures you get with it.
@4rky haven't had courage to do anything yet @phil_sandford yes @jacqbb my memories of the camera are closely linked to mum's smile just before she pressed shutter release @merrelyn I'll keep you posted @onewing you could be waiting a while @joysabin thanks for the link @Dawn we'll wait and see @mittens a bloke from camera club has his dad's, we might play and learn together @wendyfrost need lots of luck as very unprepared @grammyn took pics of #1 child as a baby, @olivetreeann I'm Anni g on going out on a sunny day. Going to take DSLR with me to get a feel of settings by mimicking what it does on auto!! @joansmor we forgot we had it in a very safe place @quietpurplehaze oh my, I own a museum piece!!! Feeling older now @maggiemae shoot every frame as if it's my last ! But yup, expecting 100% failure but terrific fun trying.) @fbailey I don't like learning curves, hate to fail, but you never know I might be a natural!! @gillian1912 thank you, going to need if!!!
