Simon and Fagin

Simon works at the Hawk Conservancy in Weyhill, Hampshire. He's trained many birds of prey, has worked on conservation projects in South Africa and is very fond of vultures.

Fagin was bred at the conservancy, his egg was rejected by his parents, so was incubated and hand reared.

An afternoon of close up photography at the conservancy, a 2020 Christmas gift from the children, only deleted 50 of the 350+ photographs I took.
Wow! Magnificent timing to get this superb image! I’m so happy to see it’s in the people challenge!

Nice capture of the two of them. When we lived in our previous house we frequently had vultures soaring or sitting on a nearby rock outcropping. They are absolutely majestic birds with the very large wing spans and they just seem to play on the wind.

We have beautiful Turkey vultures here. They aren’t real attractive up close with their naked red head, but with that 6 foot wingspan seeing them soar is a marvelous sight.
