Slipper Shiver by 30pics4jackiesdiamond

Slipper Shiver

The first race of the season is the Slipper Shiver and it is well named. Wind chill factor, rough seas and a drop in temperature made for a very cold rescue boat duty that felt a lot longer than the three hours we were on the water!

All poor photos as it was very choppy, my camera got wet, my hands got very cold so camera away after 1/4 of an hour as we got very busy with capsized dinghies!!
Hats off to you. I really don't think I could've been out there doing what you do, it makes me feel queasy just looking at that choppy sea. Great collage!

It certainly gives the feel of the day! Hope all dinghy inhabitants escaped without damage.

I truly admire you being out there and those who braved the water.

Great collage. We could see the boats from the far shore. Although mild on land there was a sense of the wind chill.

it must be brutally cold on that water!

Great collage, where you on one of those dinghies?

At least your sacrifice was worth it, saving lives. I can’t imagine being in water in those conditions. I think my body would be hypothermic and unable to move. This must be some kind of annual ritual like a polar bear plunge.

Severe weather! Great collage of action.

I cannot imagine being out there in those conditions! Nice of you to be there for those people who apparently don’t have any sense at all and are out there voluntarily! A fabulous collage of the activity considering the circumstances.

Oh no. I've been thrown out of a sailing dinghy into cold water - many years ago, but haven't forgot it. Thought I would freeze!

A great collage of the race. A person has to be dedicated to race in that one ... or have one or two screws loose - lol!

Good captures of the action. Makes me cold to look at the photos, especially the ones where the person got wet.
