I'm trying to learn to identify the various trees I come across (with the help of my plant id app.) So this is a scarlet oak. I came across it the other day in St. James Cemetery. Apparently, its leaves, with deep "C" shaped lobes, differentiate it from other red oaks. A new tree for me.
What a pretty variety of Oak! I love its rich scarlet colour and the sharpness of the serrated or shape of the leaf Nice against the muted tree tones in the distance! fav
