I am so excited! I have never seen a snowy owl, either in captivity or in the wild, and here was this one sitting by the highway on my way home tonight. I thought I imagined it as I passed by. Still, I pulled over, grabbed my camera, and hiked through some drifts while trying to hide behind a fencepost so, if indeed he was there, he wouldn't leave. I suspect those passing by on the highway thought I had quite lost my mind. I only got a few shots before he decided it was time to leave, and only this one is anywhere near in focus. I suspect he will be my first, and last, sighting as they are very rare in Nebraska.
