22 degree halo by aecasey

22 degree halo

I couldn't resist another halo photo. This one was closer to town. The clouds had thinned quite a bit and the halo was very noticeable. I guess the ring has a radius of 22 degrees around the sun. The halo is formed by both refraction and reflection of light from ice crystals, and positioned just so with respect to your eye to be seen. Very cool!
Fascinating

I have never seen a halo quite as big as that before! Sun-dogs yes, but they are quite a bit smaller!
I have no idea what your farm yard is like.I imagine that you do have barns, or one for the horses at least even if they do not always go in. What about south facing shelters or wind breaks for the cattle?
For your get pushed challenge how about a night time shot (though not silhouette) of animals or farm yard outdoors? We see lots of your fantastic daily farm routine but not much of the night time shots.

April - I did not consider your weather at this time of the year for a night time shot.
Let me save that night time challenge for later in the year. I am sure we will get partnered again some time!
How about getting symmetrical this week?
