It seems the cowbird population is growing. I saw my first few last year. This year I see them in the pastures and windbreaks. They are a rather attractive bird, with a nice enough call. It's just their unfortunate habit of fostering out their young that I object to. This group (there were four I think) were busy on the ground, utilizing the shade provided by the horses.
