Remember when ... you did not carry a phone in your pocket? I didn't use pay phones much, though I do remember in college waiting in line in the dorm to make those weekend phone calls home. There's no telephone in his phone box, but I liked seeing it snuggled up in the trees next to the old telephone building anyway. Reminder of times past.
A great reminder from the past. I saw a Mum and a young child in Nelson Bay a while ago and the child said to his Mum 'What's that' he was pointing at the pay phone. The pay phone is still operational but the calls from it are free.
The sign of a bygone age. In the UK we had public phones with the A and B buttons. You put your money in, dialed the number and if you got through you pressed A and it took your money. If you didn't manage to get through you pressed B and it gave you your money back! Now not only do you have your own phone in your pocket you also have the internet, bank, shopping, calculator, torch and a million other things in something you can hold in one hand. I love progress but it is nice to see what used to be.
