Can you identify this?

This bush was already growing on our patio when we moved in. At this time of year it is full of cascading bunches of dainty little bells. In the summer it grows like mad and I have had to protect it from my husband's trimmers. (What is it with men and tools?) One year I wasn't vigilant, and he practically cut it to the ground, but as you can see, it has recovered. I hope it has many more unmolested years tucked away in the corner of our patio.
this looks like something grow out of botanic garden! you are so lucky to have this beautiful plant growing on your patio! pls don't trim her!:)) i especially love white flowers for some reason :)

A Facebook friend tells me it is Japanese Andromeda. Let's hear it for Social Networks!

Oh, interesting....I thought it was Lily of the Valley.

Pretty little bells though, aren't they!

What a wonderful added bonus you received when you bought your house. This is a beautiful picture of a beautiful flowering shrub.
I'm so glad it recovered from the pruning shears trauma. White flowers have a special beauty all their own.

Just gorgeous. I used to have something similar on my patio whose common name was something with "wedding bells." Unfortunately, it has moved on to a better world. :)
