This afternoon John and I made a visit to Hollywood Cemetery which , according to Wikipedia is a large, sprawling cemetery characterized by rolling hills and winding paths overlooking the James River, it is the resting place of two United States Presidents, James Monroe and John Tyler, as well as the only Confederate States President, Jefferson Davis. It is also the resting place of 25 Confederate generals, more than any other cemetery in the country. Included are George Pickett and J.E.B. Stuart.
We started out walking the paths of the cemetery but the temperature and humidity were high enough to cause us to retreat to our car and finish our tour in air conditioned comfort, with me hopping out at appropriate stops along the way.
I took this picture on the walking part of our tour, looking up into the sun. Although the sky was a lovely blue, I found the B&W fit the mood of this historic site.
