Teachers have report cards, librarians at my school have thank you notes. On Parents Night our families select over 500 books to donate in honor of their children. A book plate goes in the front of each book with the child's name, and we write a note of appreciation to the child. I finally completed approximately 300 notes (I teach kindergarten, second grade and fourth grade; my colleague teaches first and third) and tonight I feel like I'm on vacation. Many people, hearing of this custom, suggest we just use a form letter, but if you heard the delight in the voice of a student when he sidles up and tell me, "I got your letter," you would understand why this is one tradition we have no intention of dropping.

That is awesome Allison. I know it's a lot of work, but you hit the nail on the head. You do the work for the children and how their faces light up when they get something special. Such a nice tradition and a nice capture to describe it.
Allison, when I used to volunteer at my kids school library, they used to do that too. A lovely personal touch instead of a typed letter. Good on you for keeping this tradition. Nice shot.
Allison and @karen I'm so impressed with your school's curriculum and the pictures you and Karen as well share with us..your thoughts and ideas..the extras you guys put in for your students...it's just amazing.
