I was surprised that I could get so close to this mockingbird that was sitting on the side of the street. Then the homeowner came out to tell me she was worried because it had been immobile for a long time. I watched it for awhile and it did move and shake its head a bit. I wonder if it had flown into something and was trying to regain its wits. So I chose my title for two reasons; I was stunned at getting this close up and the bird, perhaps, was stunned by a collision. I hope he will be gone when I return tomorrow.
He's so round. Hope this little guy has a quick recovery.
This summer, I had a couple of stunned mockingbird babies in my yard. They fell (or were pushed) out of the nest but the parents were looking after them and I was told (by animal protection) that this is when the parents are teaching them to fly.
Awwww, poor little mocker. Hope he's OK. What a beautiful shot....he's all puffed up and probably wishes he was down south. They are not migrators though so have no choice. Define fav as mockingbirds are my favorite bird (also cardinals).
